Prior to becoming a religious educator, Michelle Richards was a writer and television producers for several Indiana public broadcasting stations. During this time, she wrote and produced six documentaries on children and educational issues. She has a bachelor's degree in Radio/TV/Film Communications from Indiana State University with a specialization in writing and film criticism.
Richards believes that we have an obligation to help our youth formulate their own beliefs about the world as well as help them to build a sense of identity as Unitarian Universalists. Both Compass Points and Popcorn Theology were created with these ends in mind as well as utilize the interests of today's youth (movies, music, messaging and the Internet) to help them formulate their ideas.
Michelle Richards is also the mother of two children, a daughter aged 14 and a son aged 7. She has been married to her life partner for 20 years and her interests include yoga, martial arts and camping with her family.
